Girija Vyas is an Indian politician, poet and author. She is presently a Member of the 15th Lok Sabha, the lower house of Parliament, from the Chittorgarh constituency and former president of National Commission for Women of India. Minister of |Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation from June 2013 in Indian Cabinet.
Dr.Girija Vyas was born on 8 July 1946 to Shri Krishna Sharma & Smt. Jamuna Devi Vyas. After obtaining a Doctorate in Philosophy, she taught at the Mohanlal Sukhadia University of Udaipur and the University of Delaware. In 1985, as a candidate of the Indian National Congress party, she was elected as an M.L.A. from Udaipur, Rajasthan and served as a Minister in the Provincial Government of Rajasthan till 1990.
